So, who am I? Really?
Yes, my name is Carly. Yes, I’m a mother of two with a third on the way-lord help me. Yes, I’m a wife who loves to cook and craft. The most obvious of all being, yes, I love to travel and explore uncharted territories.
But who am I? Below the surface facts and idiosyncrasies, what truly sets my soul on fire? What depths do I possess?
The short answer is this- I’m still figuring this out every single day.
The long answer, however, is I have a yearning desire within me to see the world that cannot be muted. I have been this way for as long as I can remember. As a small child dating back to elementary age, I would continually ask my parents if I could change schools. This wasn’t due to my disliking the other students or my teachers, in fact, it was quite the opposite! This was because I had this longing to meet more people and discover even more schools. I wasn’t a natural-born academic that craved more knowledge through different sources. What I craved was more colors, more patterns, more scenery.
This was at the age of five.
These internal cravings for diversity have only intensified as I have aged and grown to discover more about the world.
At the age of six, my daughter had started to possess these same desires. She would frequently ask about foreign destinations, other languages, cultural foods, and beliefs, etc.
Praise Jesus, Hallelujah, I had birthed a mini world explorer!
Alright, it wasn’t quite this dramatic, but it really did make me a bit giddy inside every time she would show an interest in locations other than our own.
Being a single mom at the time, I found myself struggling within the purgatory that was ‘the overwhelming excitement to nurture her travel curiosities,’ and the ‘hinder her dreams due to the financial responsibilities that come with travel excursions.’
So what did I do? I chose to homeschool her for two years so we could travel the world, just she and I. Today, I am proud to say that her education abroad was better than what I find in most public schools. The memories from those travels were some of the fondest and most cherished of my life.
Many of my readers are single moms, married moms, retired moms, and moms that just want to know how I did it. Maybe you aren’t a mother at all, but an individual who has always shared in this same travel yearning as I have and are starting to bring your fantasy of travel to fruition.
Nothing should hold you back. Now is your time to fly and through this travel lifestyle blog, I hope to help you get there.
