Are you planning a honeymoon to Mexico, Aruba, or the Bahamas? As someone who has visited more tropical spots than I can count, I can share a few pointers about packing essentials. That’s why I’m pulling out the five items that I think every tropical honeymoon needs. Let’s do this!
I am of the firm belief that a tropical honeymoon is one of the times when you really can get away with wearing a kaftan. I’m sure you’ve seen all kinds of celebrities wearing these while being snapped on tropical getaways. Kaftans are long, flowy tunic dresses that provide coverage while also being very lightweight. These make perfect bathing suit coverups. They usually come in bright, busy patterns ideal for the islands! These also make for some very modelesque photos!
There’s something about a tropical setting that just demands large, colorful earrings. I love tassel earrings for a bold look because they are light as feathers. Most tassel earrings are either made from fabric or ultra-light seed beads. You will look so fun and beachy in all of your honeymoon photos with a festive pair! The best part is that you can order a pair from a place like Forever 21 or Amazon in any color for around $6!
You’ll find tons of “fashion” sandals that look great with swimsuits or sundresses out there. But, what about when it’s time to hike a volcano or go on a jungle excursion? Most people assume that you have to swap out your sandals for sneakers. I say you should get a shoe that lets you do both! I’m a big fan of sports sandals that are both stylish and comfortable when packing for tropical vacations. Chacos are perfect for this. With a little bit of research, you can find some pretty cute ones! The best part is that these attractive, sports sandals with a feminine twist are durable enough for hiking the entire Appalachian Trail! As someone who practically lives in sandals, I’ll confess that I’ve been known to rock my Chacos with a dress. Click Below!
I know these may seem off-putting at first thought. (Picturing an 80-year-old granny reading a book?) Me too, but I can’t even tell you how many pairs of sunglasses I’ve lost while peeking over a mountain peak or crater to get a good view of the beautiful planet unfolding all around me. Nothing ruins a perfect moment like the sensation of your sunglasses slipping off your head! I recommend that you get a good cord or chain for your sunglasses. You will thank me once you have your own “close call” with your favorite pair of sunglasses. I’ve had good luck with these sunglass chains. They also look like a sleek and classy necklace while wearing!
The last thing that you want on your honeymoon is a nasty sunburn right on the smoocher! The thickness and taste of sunscreen make it an undesirable option for your lips. So, add a few tubes of lightweight, shimmery lip balm with SPF protection to your carry-on. These Sun Bum Tinted Lip Balms will keep your lips soft and kissable for the entire duration of your Honeymoon.
(See above photo of the Hubby and I are on our own beach vacation!)Hair flower clips come in so many versatile colors, styles, and are extremely affordable! Claire’s tends to always have some cute ones in stock, but if you are lazy like me, some fun options can be found here! It’s hard not to feel all the romantic beach feels when you have flowers in your hair.
Floppy sun hats are a beach essential! Every girl should have at least one stored in her closet. The floppier, the better! Not only are they fun to wear and protect against sun damage, they are easy to pack! Two of my favorites that I often wear myself can be purchased here, and here. Pair a sun hat with your Kaftan, Earrings, Sandals, and Sunglasses and you have the perfect beach outfit!
